• I paid a visit to Benoît Tarlant in Oeuilly yesterday, who is about midway through the harvest: most of the meunier has been picked, but there's still chardonnay and pinot noir on the vines, particularly in top sites like Les Sables and Les Crayons. Also still on the vines are the "other" grapes—arbanne, petit meslier and pinot blanc—since they take so darn long to ripen.
