• As Champagne villages go, Gueux is not the most well-known. It was actually most famous as a retreat for the aristocracy of Reims back in the old days, as it’s not too far away, and its rural setting allowed for a respite from city life. Even today, one of Champagne’s most upper-crusty golf courses is located here, and it’s supposedly rather nice (I wouldn’t know, as I’ve never been).
