• Pierre Gimonnet Brut Blanc de Blancs 1982 in magnum

    Recently, Didier Gimonnet of Pierre Gimonnet conducted a tasting in Paris in which he presented, all in magnum, what he considered to be the estate’s top vintage of each of the past five decades. This, of course, was determined by extensive tasting through the house’s cellars, and the winners, by decade, were: 2002, 1995, 1982, 1979 and 1964.

    I was invited to this tasting, but much to my dismay, I was unable to attend due to travel obligations. However, Didier and his brother Olivier presented a few of these wines again at a tasting in Reims. All of the wines were in magnum, and all were disgorged a month prior to the tasting, without dosage.
