• Champagne Philipponnat 1983 Grand Blanc Brut

    Philipponnat is known best for its Clos des Goisses, and justifiably so, as this is one of the finest wines in Champagne. However, the house also produces a complete range of other wines, and these are often overlooked.

    In my mind, the house has improved considerably since Charles Philipponnat took charge in 1999: his vision, dedication and clarity of purpose have taken the house to new heights, and he isn’t yet finished, by any means. He’s well on his way to transforming Philipponnat into one of Champagne’s elite producers—indeed, one could argue that he already has.
